Shed a little light…

Believe it or not but in the late 1800’s miners used an open flame head light in order to see underground.

You can imagine how dangerous that was, since where coal mining is concerned, they often had to deal with methane gas that was produced as they dug deeper into the mine. This often caused explosions and cost many lives.

Since then however technology has produced several improvements to the headlamp which has saved many lives and there has been fewer explosions due to these improvements.

Workers on many levels, not just in mines, often need to work in dark places and need their hands free – so as to work with both hands and not have to hold a flashlight. Therefor we can be grateful at the improvements made to the traditional headlamp
