The Importance of Tool Tethering

Tethering your tools is a way for you to prevent it from being dropped and fall from a height. Usually thethering means to attach the tool or tools to the person using them or (especially with heavier tools) attaching them to a fixed anchor point.

You can think of tethering as fall arrest for your tools when you are working at a height.

Why tether your tools?

You can imagine how dangerous a hammer, wrench or screwdriver can be if it is dropped from a height. Tethering is a simple safety measure which could potentially prevent serious injury or even fatalities due to falling objects.

Dropped objects are the third largest cause of workplace fatalities worldwide. If you work at a height, securing your tools with a tool tether ensures that, if dropped, the tools will not pose a hazard to yourself or anyone down below.
