General Workplace Safety Hazards – 5

For the 5th safety hazard we have 2 proper English words for you: Overexertion is the first one. The second being Ergonomics.

These two subjects sometimes go hand in hand but can also be covered separately. Overexertion is to put too much pressure on or to strain. This can typically happen when someone picks up something that is a lot heavier than the usual weight that they are used to lifting, continuous repetitive motions, excessive stretching, maintaining the same position for a long time, excessive force or extreme temperatures.

Ergonomics can be described as the science of workplace design with worker capabilities and limitations kept in mind. This is especially important when it comes to office design or equipment used for long periods of time by employees.
