General Workplace Safety Tips - Tip 2

Today we are looking at the second safety tip out of the blog series of 10 Safety tips. This one focuses on preventing back injuries in whichever work you find yourself, yes even a desk job.

 

First of all when you do have a desk job or any job that involves sitting a lot, you need to make sure that you often get up out of your chair. Not only this, but when you sit you can make it a habit of sitting straight and keeping your shoulders in line with your hips. This will help prevent back problems, since sitting for long periods of time can lead to disk problems in your spine. Besides for this, you could also develop problems with your posture and neck.

 

 

On the other side of the work spectrum – if you have to pick things up, it is important to lift correctly in order not to injure your back. Try not to twist or stoop while lifting what needs to be lifted. If it is in your power to do so, see to it that you use furniture and/or safety equipment which are designed ergonomically
